4 Cleansing Juices You Need After CNY

February 01, 2019 | Recipes

After indulging in lots of glorious food for Chinese New Year, the best way to ease our body back into its regular lifestyle is with cleansing juices to make up for the fresh goodness we may have missed out on during the festivities. Here are 4 of our go-to recipes when we need a pick-me-up:

Love Your Liver

Ingredients
1 beet (medium size)
6 celery stalks
1 cup fresh cilantro
½ lemon
1 knob ginger

Our liver functions mainly to help with digestion, immunity, metabolism and the storage of nutrients and one of our favourite vegetables to use to support this organ is the beetroot. It’s high in betaine, which helps reduce fatty deposits and toxins in the liver. Here’s how to make it at home.

Strengthen Your Gut

Ingredients

½ of a small papaya
1 banana
1 lemon wedge

All the (extra) energy our body has put into digesting food should be repaid with restoring the health of our digestive system. Papayas are a great source for fibre and vitamin C, it helps improve digestion and immunity. And when paired with bananas and a lemon wedge, it becomes the refreshing drink your body needs.  Make it at home following this recipe.

Keep Your Heart Healthy

Ingredients

2 cups fresh cranberries
2 apples
2 pieces of ginger
2 kale leaves

After a hearty meal, comes a hearty drink and our favourite one is made with cranberry. Cranberry juice is said to risk heart disease because it is a natural source for polyphenols – which helps reduce the tightness in arteries. Apples are known for its antioxidants and high fibre content, while ginger helps prevent heart risks. Try it for yourself using this recipe.

Boost Your Immune System

Ingredients

2 large organic carrots tops trimmed
1 organic Granny Smith apple cut into quarters
1 orange quartered and peeled

The trick to improving your immune system lies in the mixture of carrots, apples and oranges. Not only does it taste divine, but carrots have beta carotene which our bodies use to produce Vitamin C and to keep our skin healthy. Apples are rich in antioxidants while oranges keep our blood sugar levels and immunity in check. Drink your way to better health with this recipe.
