As Ramadan comes to a close, we’re giving sahur a healthy twist with energy smoothies to last you through the day! Aside from being jammed-packed with nutrients, it also curbs cravings on top of boosting immunity to ensure a happy and healthy Raya is on the horizon. Try these recipes for a refreshing start to your sahur:
Coconut Blackberry Smoothie
If you often feel lethargic during the day, this is the smoothie for you! Both blackberries and coconuts can boost brain health and focus, perfect for keeping yourself alert and active throughout the workday. Just throw the ingredients into the blender and mix it all until it’s smooth and serve it up for a nutritious treat!
1 cup coconut milk
1 cup vanilla fat-free Greek yoghurt
½ frozen banana
¾ cup fresh blackberries
¼ cup shredded sweetened coconut
2 tablespoons coconut sugar (optional)
Banana Date Smoothie
Dates and bananas are often consumed during puasa month because of their energy-restoring properties. While dates have natural sugars that restore blood sugar levels after a fast, bananas are full of potassium and contain slow-releasing energy that sustains you throughout the day. We’re combining both for a power-packed smoothie here. Blend the ingredients well and enjoy the yummy result!
1 medium-sized banana
4-5 seedless dates
½ cup milk or soya milk
½ cup ice
4 teaspoons milk powder
¼ teaspoons vanilla essence
Honey to taste
